reimagine
Do you imagine a better place? Have you sensed that it’s time to shift your settings, your scenery, or your surroundings? Do you want something entirely different, a restart that will give you a different place and perspective on the world and life? Changing your surroundings can change your mood and your mind, making it easier and more efficient to do the things you like and need to do. Rather than build your life around the space you’re in — build your space around your life! Changes in your built environment can make profound changes in how you live and work.
Do you imagine a better world? Wondering how you can make a difference? At REdesign.build, we are experts in maximizing sustainability and minimizing environmental impact. There are lots of ways to ‘go green.’ We can guide you through the options for making a healthier environment inside and out.
redesign
Our design process — from the first meeting to the finished product — is a conversation. We want to hear your ideas, values, needs, and concerns. We want to see your Pinterest page and your magazine clippings. Doodle on a bar napkin? We want to see that, too. We will encourage you to actively participate in the process. Our goal is to educate and empower you so that the design we create is personal, practical, and rewarding.
Our process is iterative, which means we offer lots of options along the way. Of course, we will also check in with your budget to make sure we don’t overdo it. We communicate with traditional 2D plans, but we also provide 3D virtual models. You can even have the model on your phone to show off to whoever you’d like! No project is too large and no detail too small for REdesign.build. Over the years, we’ve designed everything from bridges to balusters, swimming pools to sinks, houses to hardware.
No matter the size or complexity of your project, we will guide you through an organized, collaborative design process.
rebuild
Let’s build it! We have learned a lot in over two decades of building. In fact, we can’t think of something we haven’t built, from sleek rooftop swimming pools, to humble chicken coops, houses from the ground up, to underground bars, we have built hundreds of projects. REdesign.build’s staff of project managers, carpenters and field personnel are dedicated to applying the same care and quality to every type of project. In the process, we’ve developed our own special tools and strategies to make construction as efficient as possible for us and as painless as possible for you.
Experienced at turning the intimate conversation of design into the web of information needed to build a project, we consider communication the most valuable tool. We utilize a specialized, web and email based project management interface to keep you in the loop with the project as it progresses.
Experienced at working in urban settings and existing neighborhoods, we have developed a customized system of trailers and vehicles. Allowing us to always keep the right tools on the job, maximize our efficiency and minimize the impact of construction on your neighbors.
rework
While we haven’t taken pictures of all our projects, we have taken care to photograph a wide representation of our work. Just click on the topic or the picture that interest you the most, and enjoy. You can also follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see ongoing snapshots of our process, projects, and people. We also have a Houzz page and occasionally lurk around Pinterest.
renew
We love to design and build new buildings from the ground up. We see it as an opportunity to take the best of what we know about architecture, construction, sustainability, building science and urban planning to improve our built surroundings. There is more known about the impact of buildings on the people, place and planet than we ever have in the past. With new buildings, we seek to look forward, and find new ways to express commitment to architectural integrity and sustainability.
We only design and build new buildings that integrate energy efficiency and sustainable strategies. REdesign.build takes the long-term view that the world can’t afford more buildings that are expensive to operate and maintain.
We believe in a less car dependent future, so you will find our new buildings are in urban centers surrounded by existing infrastructure; no new roadways cut, no farm or forest land altered.
We believe buildings are an expression of the values of their time and place. Our new buildings will embrace the best of today’s technology, sustainability and architectural integrity.
remodel
Already have a building? We are masters of working with existing structures and spaces, and making something that already exists that much better. We love the process of giving an old space new vitality and function. And, after two decades, there are few building types we haven’t reimagined, reworked, or remodeled and few potential problems we haven’t solved. We have remodeled 200 year old farm houses, sleek modern office buildings and everything in between. We have worked on houses of every size (and added on in every direction). We have salvaged old buildings for historic preservation and updated buildings for commercial needs. We have adaptively reused a school, a textile mill, a trucking depot, and a gas station. Working with existing structures allows everyone to do more with less, which is one of the core principles of sustainability.
REdesign.build can advise you on remodeling vs. adding on and take the worry out of challenges like working with load bearing walls and finding matching materials and finishes. Our experienced teams have faced just about every remodeling challenge there is and we are ready to help you with yours.
recycle
REdesign.build is committed to sustainability principles. So committed in fact, that we are willing to help you pay for the energy efficiency and sustainability features you chose for your project. We know it takes some “green” to “go green,” so we have developed a program called the Green Line. There is a green line encircling our logo, and we also want it to surround your project. For each sustainability strategy you choose for your project, you’ll receive a discount on that item, highlighted with a green line on your project budget. From solar-thermal to geo-thermal, rainwater harvesting to hot-water efficiency, and from recycling to reclamation, there are so many ways to make a difference. And with more than twenty years of experience in sustainability, we can find the ones that work best for you. We can’t wait to see how many green lines you’re able to work into your project!
rethink
We don’t mean to boast, but our staff — from those designing your project, to those who will build it — are simply the best. REdesign.build is a true design-build firm. We have professional teams in the office and in the field, so we can take your project from initial concept to final completion. All of our design team members hold degrees in architecture, and all of our field team members are seasoned professionals. What’s more, they’ve been around the block before — they’ve faced and answered the same questions that may seem so daunting and new for you at the start of a project. Did you know, for instance, that a kitchen remodel alone might involve over 2,500 separate choices? We have the experienced staff and knowhow needed to guide you through the gauntlet of decisions that come with any project. Let our passion and experience get you the project that you truly want.
